How do you assess the quality or health of a community information ecosystem? New research by the Pew Internet & American Life Project, conducted in support of a Knight Foundation initiative, begins to provide an answer.

On March 1, Pew released the results of a extensive surveys of citizens in three U.S. cities. At the same time, another team released the first draft of
a "Community Information Toolkit" for assessing the health of community information resources.
